Our History

A legacy built since 2002.

From ten original petitioners to a thriving alumni chapter, the story of Canton-Madison is one of vision, fraternity leadership, service, growth, and achievement.

The Beginning

Spring 2002

In the spring of 2002, as Nissan North America was establishing its Canton plant, a conversation about corporate investment in the local community helped spark discussion among local Kappas about forming an alumni chapter for men in Madison County.

Brothers Arnel Bolden, Christopher Brown, Reginald Rigsby, and Michael Yant were among those who met to explore the possibility. The effort proceeded with guidance from Southwestern Province leadership and with a commitment to protect the integrity and strength of the neighboring Jackson (MS) Alumni Chapter.

By July 2002, ten petitioners had committed to moving forward. After additional organizing, support, and review, the Grand Board of Directors unanimously approved the chapter. Canton-Madison (MS) Alumni Chapter was chartered on Friday, December 6, 2002.
